Medicines for Children Producing a Medicines Management App for Parents and Carers
The Medicines for Children project has been awarded £50,000 from Comic Relief’s ‘Tech for Good’ programme to support the team to develop a medicines management app for parents and carers.
In November 2018, the Medicines for Children project was awarded £50,000 from Comic Relief’s ‘Tech for Good’ programme. This programme offers funding and training days to support the Medicines for Children team to develop a medicines management app for parents and carers. Following a period of consultation with parents and carers, the app is on track to be launched at the RCPCH conference in May 2019.
As some of you may know, following the joint Meds IQ/ Medicines for Children event in December 2017, we had a working group in place, looking at developing a medication safety passport for families. This group has now decided that, rather than develop a parallel product, it is best to work together and is, thus, supporting the app development with its advice and guidance from a child health professional perspective.
In addition, it has just been announced that Medicines for Children has been shortlisted for an Health Service Journal award in the category of Optimisation of Medicines Management. The award shortlist was put together over two days of judging involving an expert panel including Sir Bruce Keogh. The winner will be announced at the HSJ Award ceremony on Wednesday 21st November 2018 in London. You can find the official announcement here.
Congratulations, Medicines for Children!
