Workbook on Safer Prescribing for Paediatric Doctors

The prescribing workbook is issued to all new neonatal and paediatric doctors who commence work in the Trust.

Description

The prescribing workbook aims to inform doctors of the risks when prescribing and encourage good prescribing practice. Doctors complete the exercises and then these are discussed during their induction session. The doctors then also receive an answer book with additional information.

Exercises focus on good prescribing practice, prescribing drugs on admission, IV fluids, infusions and drug calculations.

Implementation

This is version two of the workbook, which was revised following feedback and as a result of local incidents that had occurred.

The workbook is currently being reviewed as ePrescribing has now been introduced locally, so the context of some of the questions is not relevant.
