Metavisioning Social Determinants of Children and Young People’s Health

We share a vision of child health through the thoughts and conversations created by an ecosphere of engagement to accompany the RCPCH Conference 2021 session on social determinants of children and young people's health.

MetaVisioning is a process that positions any decisions or actions you take in the global historical context. It links your narrative about what you see and feel is happening in the world, to your narrative about what is happening in your community, and place of work. It reveals the potential impact you can have beyond what appears to be your sphere of influence. MetaVisioning deliberately avoids a problem-solving approach and focuses on the idea of dream realisation, in the holistic context of the whole system.

Dread, Delight, Dream

Before RCPCH Conference 2021, we asked you to share thoughts on your Dread, Delights and Dreams for child health. Take a look at the images created from the responses we received:

Looking at the world today, especially for children and young people, what fills you with unease, anger and dread?

Looking at the Health and Social care system today, especially for children and young people, what fills you with unease, anger and dread?

Looking at the world today, especially for children and young people, what fills you with enthusiasm, optimism, and delight?

Looking at the Health and Social care system today, especially for children and young people what fills you with enthusiasm, optimism, and delight?

In your dreams what is the world you yearn to see for our children’s children to inherit and inhabit?

In your dreams what is the Health and Social Care system you yearn to see for our children’s children to inherit and inhabit?

A Whole Healed World

During RCPCH Conference 2021, we will be reflecting on the summary pictures in our social determinants breakout session. Answer the questions below to share your thoughts with our metavisioning team who will, collate, and curate them into visual summaries to continue the conversation:

Identifying the Initiatives

After reviewing the visual summaries of all the responses from our Dread, Delights and Dreams conversation and reflecting on the themes and voices shared in the social determinants session at RCPCH Conference 2021, let us know your thoughts by answering the following questions:

Taking On The Initiatives

  • [It is important to stay in your dreams for this. It literally enables out of the box thinking and “unthinkable” ideas]
  • [It is important to stay in your dreams for this. It literally enables out of the box thinking and “unthinkable” ideas]
  • If you are willing you can add your name and contact details that could link you to others who are keen to embark on similar ventures.
  • You don’t have to write a whole speech. Just a phrase or a sentence. You may not get the chance to deliver your keynote but it will be compiled with everyone else’s phrases into a visual summary, and distributed to all the delegates
