The Big Conversation

The NHS Big Conversation for Improvement took place on the 11th & 12th May 2022 hosted by the NHS Improvement Directorate (part of NHS England & NHS Improvement) and the Advancing Quality Alliance. Developed and delivered in consultation with the Q community led by the Health Foundation and co-produced with patient advocates and lived experience partners, the 2-day virtual event brought together thousands of people across the NHS and beyond to learn and #ImproveTogether.

The Big Conversation was an opportunity to bring people together for a range of interactive discussions, workshops and presentations, giving a space for people to talk through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, exploring continuous improvement opportunities and sharing fresh insights and ideas on how to promote the improvement of health and care for the benefit of everyone, those who experience services and those who provide them.

Recordings and resources from across the 2-day event are now available as a ‘Digital Goody Bag’ on the Big Conversation website here.

The Next Conversation

The ‘Next Conversation for Improvement’ will be taking place virtually on Tuesday 28 June, 9am to 5pm with live tweets from @HorizonsNHS using #ImprovingTogether on Twitter. It will be an opportunity for healthcare professionals to reflect on learning from The Big Conversation, consider how teams can use the learning and insights, and what’s next for improvement in health and care, together.

#SolvingTogether is also a regionally-led initiative that is part of a suite of interventions relating to the delivery of transformation led by Tim Ferris, Director of Transformation of NHS England and Improvement. It’s an approach to capture, assess and test learning and ideas that can support key priorities, and is currently focussed on the recovery of elective services by mobilising the people who know the most; those delivering and receiving care and leading services, making them fair, accessible and inclusive for all.
